Wings

The other day when I picked Orin up from school
he had just woken up from a nap and had
some fantastic wings.
(He has insisted that we not cut his hair)
They were too good not to share with you.

...and chasing bubbles in the morning

Life is tough when you're a kid.

Bike riding before bed...

Cat nap

It appears there has been a mix up...

The least healthy vegetable ever

Easter Sunday!

On the morning of Easter Sunday
I was working frantically trying to finish a paper
before leaving for Nana's house,
so I asked Casey to bathe Orin and get him dressed.
I never could have never imagined the hairstyle/ outfit combo
that they would come up with.
(And for the record, the bow-tie actually lasted all day)

Catch!

(There is a ball up there)

Looking for something?

A Song for Earth Day

Watching the kids sing this song was so great
because, not only was it really cute, but it was
fun to see Orin as his own person,
singing songs that I didn't teach him
and don't even know myself.
We certainly have been lucky to have Ms. Jessika.

Orin and Alex

Too cool for school...

Our first bird feeder!

I have never hung bird feeders because I have always
felt guilty that I might be luring them to their death,
but now with the cats already at Baba's house,
we are free to hang Orin's homemade feeder.

Grumpa Dean

Grumpa Dean spent the day with us yesterday.
We had a great time walking around Sellwood,
eating good food, and playing at the park.
Early the next morning, we said goodbye to Grumpa,
Cali, and Trouble until our east coast arrival in June!

Color bias

I wonder if the other colors feel rejected?

Fun outside

The other day we went to visit the old house in Oregon City.
Cole, Dakota, Orin, and Devin wasted no time
catching up on play time.

Breakdancing in the livingroom

Step One

Yesterday we took the cats in to get their health certificates.
Dean is flying out for a short visit and will be taking them
back to Boston with him where they will spend the next few months.
Sending the cats off is our first official step
towards our move to Cape Cod in June.
We are so excited!
(about the move, not about missing the cats).
We will keep you posted on the details
as soon as we figure them out.

Tractors

I am so glad Orin can get this out of his system in the store,
so we don't have to have one of these in our backyard.

Too cute

Hair puller

Whenever Orin is feeling tired or insecure,
he likes to play with my hair.
It is a habit that drives me nuts, but short of shaving my head,
I didn't know how to deal with it...
that is until last night when I had a brilliant idea.

Survivor!

Last summer, after moving out of the Oregon City house,
I went back to find my walking stick tree in a frightful state.
It hadn't been watered enough and was dropping all of its leaves.
I figured that it would die if I left it, so I dug it up and stuck it
in the only pot that I could find (one that was way too small!)
I brought it to Portland hoping that it would come back
in the spring but not having too much hope.
Good news: leaves are emerging, she is going to make it!

Relaxing...

Bike riding in monster gloves

Spring plantings

Just tucked the first starts into the raised beds!
I am so excited it is finally spring!

Tent time!

We have been meaning to get Orin a new bed for a while
and were thinking about stealing the idea of a tent bed
from Orin's cousin Alden, but had been dragging our feet a bit
and had yet to actually buy one.
So we were so excited when an awesome kids tent,
complete with 3 windows and a sky light,
showed up at our door courtesy of Grandma Carla.
All of Orin's friends promptly moved in
and he has been sleeping (and playing) in it ever since.
Thanks Grandma Carla!

Perfect posture

Stop and smell the trilliums...

Happy Spring everyone!
