Austin, TX

We have finally landed in Austin after a drive which I told Casey would be "a couple hours" from New Mexico (I lied....).

But it is nice to be in a place where people drive something other than large white pick up trucks with dead deer in the back.

We decided to make the most of the city and jumped at the opportunity to see the local Art Museum for dollar Tuesdays. The featured artist was of no real interest to either one of us, but we did enjoy goofing around in the bendy mirror exhibit. After the museum we visited the Nature Center where Casey made friends with a very large bobcat and stood outside in the rain talking to her for quite a while (he named her Lucy). It was there that we (meaning Casey) got these great shots of a pair of Barn owls and a Great Horned Owl.

Tomorrow will be a big day for October (that is the name of our van for those of you that are behind the times). We are taking her to The Metaphysical Underground VW Repair Shop. The guys there really define the Austin liberal.... Casey might end up doing the work with the guy there because he is too out of it to get any other help and can't reach the part that needs to be fixed. I will wait patiently in the local Starbucks, hoping for their safety, and most likely write you again then.

Love from the deep south.
