Cold front in and we are out

After several lovely days in Austin, we learned about a freak cold front that was rolling into town, so we decided to flee to the coast. The plan was to stay in a town directly south of Houston (I have already forgotten its name), but when we arrived late that night we felt inspired to keep going. This inspiration stemmed from a combination of Casey drinking too much Redbull and the fact that the town was terrifying.... really.... you don't even want to know, it was like a scene out of a horror movie.

So, we kept going until we got to the island of Galveston, TX and located our trusty Walmart parking lot to camp in.

That night (despite our attempt avoid bad weather) we were hit with hurricane force winds and blankets of rain that sounded like golf balls crashing into the roof. Our trusty little vanagon swayed and creaked under the pummeling, but held fast.

We got no sleep.

Everything was better in the morning, we just had to spend some time drying out our bedding, which for some reason gets damp from underneath every time it rains. But as a bonus we realized that we were camping in an oceanfront parking lot. Ahhhh, what a life....

The pictures I have added for this blog are some more of the van, this time what it looks like when we have the bed down.

Purple has adjusted the best to van-living.

More on Galveston to come.
